Master of Fine Arts Degree in Conducting

A 15-month program comprising two consecutive summer institutes and an academic-year course of study at Bard College. The M.F.A. program features the following components:

• Master classes in technical score study and analysis with Maestro Farberman
• Podium time, including
  • Class sessions with the Institute String Quintet
  • Conducting opportunities with orchestra and chorus
  • Two summer institutes
  • Completion concert with the Institute Orchestra
• Class study in
  • Composition
  • Basic orchestra repertoire
  • Languages
  • A "second" instrument (string or piano)
  • Solfège
