    Bard College is situated on more than 500 acres along the Hudson River, on the grounds of two historic riverfront estates, the main campus of Bard is 90 miles north of New York City.

    Use the information below to plan your trip to Bard or follow one of our sample travel itineraries.     Directions and Transportation

    By train
    There are two train stations close to Bard College, one in Poughkeepsie, New York and the other in Rhinecliff, New York. Taxi service is available from either station to bring you to our Annandale-on-Hudson campus.
    • Amtrak Service to Rhinecliff, New York
      Service Details: Amtrak provides service from Penn Station in New York City and from Albany to Rhinecliff, about 9 miles south of our campus in Annandale. Taxi service is available at the station.
      Estimated Travel Time: Approx. 2 hours (1hr 40 min by train, 15-20 min by taxi).

    • Metro-North Service to Poughkeepsie, New York
      Service Details: Metro-North commuter railroad provides service from Grand Central in New York City to Poughkeepsie, about 26 miles south of our campus in Annandale. Taxi service is available at the station.
      Estimated Travel Time: Approx. 1.5 hours (1hr 40-50 min by train, 40 min by taxi).

    By automobile
    The Taconic State Parkway and the New York State Thruway provide the most direct routes to our campus.
    • Taconic State Parkway
      If you are traveling from East of the Hudson River, in New York State take the Taconic State Parkway to the Red Hook/Route 199 exit, drive west on Route 199 through the village of Red Hook to Route 9G, turn right onto Route 9G, drive north 1.6 miles, turn left at the traffic light and continue on Annandale Road through our campus to North Ravine road on your left. You will face the Admissions building and may park in the visitor parking to your left.
    • New York State Thruway (I-87)
      If you are traveling from West of the Hudson River, take the New York State Thruway (I-87) to Exit 19 (Kingston), take Route 209 (changes to Route 199 at the Hudson River) over the Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge to Route 9G, turn left onto Route 9G, drive north 3.5 miles, turn left at the traffic light and continue on Annandale Road through our campus to North Ravine road on your left. You will face the Admissions building and may park in the visitor parking to your left.

    By air
    Bard College is accessible from Kennedy and LaGuardia airports in New York City; and from the airports in Newark, New Jersey, and Albany and Newburgh, New York. The airports closest in proximity to our campus are Stewart International Airport in Newburgh (about 45-50min) and Albany International Airport (about 1hr). Taxi and car rental services are available at all airports.
